Joyces-Vegas-Hoover Dam

We spent the day at our cousins house in Riverside, CA. she made a wonderful brunch for us.  We just got to sit and relax and chit chat for a few hours it was a great change of pace.

This is mom and Joyce.  Joyce says see Jim (her husband) I'm not the shortest one in the family but I think it is a little closer than this I think she is standing on a hill. It is her house after all she would know how to strategically pose everyone.  You will see in a later photo how I am shorter than her and mom.

Notice how much shorter I am?!?  We will have to come back again and we will choose the photo op spot!

I was fascinated with their roof so I took a picture of it.  Jim thinks that is the first picture anyone has ever taken of his roof.   Joyce said this is one of two roof options you have for the area, you can't have a regular stick built roof like we do at home it is a fire hazard. she said what's funny about that is the rest of the houses our stick so if they do catch on fire the only thing left will be the roof's.

We finally got to eat at an In-N-Out burger.  Hannah had suggested it when we were with her in San Francisco.  It was a really good burger.  I love the fact you only have three options burger, cheeseburger, or double cheeseburger. Then you get a pop or a milkshake. That place was packed out they have a good system though because you are litererally in and out in just a few minutes.
We are finally in Vegas baby!!! We stayed at Ballys because it is centrally located to everything that we wanted to do.

This was the view from our room, not much but we had a little view.

This is the Bellagio.

The pictures above are all from the light and water show at the Bellagio. It was awesome we took video of it we will figure out how to post that later.

Here are just a few pics shiny lights in vegas on the strip.

These pictures below are from old vegas which is a monorail and a $10.00 busride away.

The two pictures below are from The Freemont Experience. This screen is the ceiling and it is about 4 blocks long and it shows a giant video the whole length of it. kinda hard to explain but it was amazing.

We all put our dollar in to say that we gambled in Vegas.  I think Brenda put a few more dollars because she kept disappearing on us whenever we were in a casino.

But looky looky who won $120.00 off of $1.00

gift shop in bill' casino!

Below are pictures of The Venetian.
This was the ceiling above the stores in the entrance to the canal stores.

This is the canal area this ceiling is painted also.

You can take a Gondola ride inside of this place and the guy on the back was singing.

another picture of the store fronts and ceiling

This was a lady she was acting like a statue she was really good.

No trip to Vegas would be complete without a picture with Elvis and Marylin.

The two pictures above are from the show Pawn Stars on the History channel

This is just one of the 8 miles of tunnels here at the Hoover dam

These are the generators powered by the dam

I think dad is making a comment and brenda and mom are listening to him instead of the tour guide.

This is the Nevada service tunnel we are in not a lot of space.

This is a stairwell. In case of emergency we would have had to use it. Employees of Hoover Dam refer to it as the stairmaster from hell.

These pictures were taken from the observation deck of the dam visitor center.
Overall we reallly enjoyed the dam tour!

  1. Argh, I just left you a long comment and it went somewhere in cyberspace....

I love the pictures from Vegas baby, and I miss In-N-Out! We ate there twice when we were in Vegas- so cheap too. How awesome you got to see the Pawn Stars shop. We've never seen the show, but some of our friends say it's one of their top places to visit when they go to Vegas next.

Hoover Dam pictures were neat. Looks like everyone is having a blast, and the weather looks fantastic.
